Braves Let One Slip Away: L, 4-3

Tyrell Godwin delivered the first-ever pinch hit homerun against the Braves to give the Lookouts a 4-3 come-from-behind win in front of an announced crowd of 2,761 fans at Trustmark Park. The Braves (7-11) had their modest two-game win streak halted and dropped to 49-38 overall on the season. The Lookouts (11-7) maintained their hold on 1st place in the North Division and improved to 40-48 overall. The Braves finished just 1-for-10 (3-for-17 in the series) with runners in scoring position in the game while the Lookouts they finished 0-for-4 (5-for-20 in the series) in that same category.

It was the Braves who led early in this one as they got a pair of two-out RBI doubles by Matt Esquivel and Diory Hernandez in the bottom of the first inning and then an RBI groundout by J.C. Holt in the next frame to secure a 3-0 lead after two innings.

The Lookouts responded with a pair of RBI groundouts in the 4th inning by Janish and Tatum to shrink the Braves lead down to just one. Both runs were unearned against Harrison as Hernandez bobbled a potential double play ball to trigger the Lookouts runs.

The Braves had either a lead-off hit or walk in the 2nd through the 8th innings but managed only the 2nd inning run. Former MSU Bulldog Craig Tatum drew a lead-off walk in the 7th which brought up pinch-hitter Tyrell Godwin to deliver the fatal blow off of Zach Schreiber. It was just the second homerun of the season allowed by Schreiber (3-4., 2.05 ERA).

Matt Harrison (5-4, 3.23 ERA) was unable to pick up his 6th win and hasn't won since June 8th at Birmingham.

Diory Hernandez was the Braves player of the game as finished with 3-for-4 with 1 RBI. He picked up his 15th double of the year along with his 25th multi-hit game of the season.

The Braves will continue a 4-game series in Pearl, Mississipip at Turstmark Park as they take on the Chattanooga Lookouts, the AA Affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, in the third game of their Southern League 4-Game Series. The Braves On Deck Circle presented by Wendy's will air starting at 6:05pm (CT). The First Pitch will follow at 7:05pm (CT).
