Salty Wakes Up Braves Bats

Jarrod Saltalamacchia finally had a break-out performance as a MS Brave on Friday night providing more than enough fireworks before the sky was lit up after the game with a spectacular postgame fireworks show. Salty had a 3 for 4 night as he drove in 3, and none bigger than his solo shot in the fifth that gave the Braves back the lead for good 3-2. Salty had his first multi-hit game and multi-RBI game of the season as the Braves scored in five different innings.

The Braves also had an outstanding relief performance from Will Startup as he went 2.2 IP and only allowed a walk while striking out five. The Braves went with a revised lineup which seemed to work tonight although ironically Blanco (who had collected 4 of the previous 6 Braves hits) went hitless on the night but did collect a walk. The Braves pitching staff returned the previous night's favor of 12 Ks by Mobile with 13 of their own.

Both teams head into Saturday night's rubber match with identical 4-5 records. The Braves On Deck Circle powered Nextel starts everything off at 6:05pm with the first pitch following at 7:o5pm. Don't forget to bring your radio to the ballpark and tune into either AM-930 or our Trustmark Park frequency of 104.3-FM.

You can also check out the Braves Minute, which is a 60 second recap of last night's game.
