Braves End Losing Skid: W, 6-1

The Southern League Leading MS Braves ended their season-high 4 game losing streak as they defeated the Diamond Jaxx 6-1 in front of an announced crowd of 3,048 at Trustmark Park. The Braves (21-11) maintained their lead in the South Division at 3 games over the Jacksonville Suns. The Diamond Jaxx (15-17) remained a game behind the Tennessee Smokies in the North Division.

Braves starter Jo-Jo Reyes (3-1, 3.38 ERA) was able to pitch around 5 base hits and 7 base runners in the frist four innings allowing just one run on a sacrifice fly. After that run scored Jo-Jo Reyes retired the final eight batters he faced before being lifted in the 6th inning. Jose Ascanio entered and combined with Reyes to retire 18 of the final 19 D-Jaxx batters.

The Braves team ERA fell to 3.06 and they moved back into first place in the Southern League ahead of Birmingham - 3.09 ERA.

Matt Esquivel was the Braves Player of the Game as he belted his first triple of the year along with his Southern League Leading 9th Homer and 28th RBI of the season...He also scored 3 times to add to his League Lead now up to 27. Carl Loadenthal extended his hitting streak to a team-high 13 games with a 3rd inning sinble. He finished 2-for-5.

The Braves will continue a 5-game homestand in Pearl, Mississippi at Trustmark Park as they take on the West Tennessee Diamon Jaxx, the AA Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, in the Third Game of their Southern League Series. The Braves On Deck Circle presented by Wendy's start things off at 6:05pm. The First Pitch will follow at 7:05pm (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send LHP Francisely Bueno (0-2, 6.17 ERA) to the hill still in search of his elusive first win, while the Diamond Jaxx will counter with LHP Robert Rohrbaugh (3-2, 2.81 ERA) who is looking for his fourth victory.
