Braves Homer Their Way Past Lookouts

The Braves used homeruns from Luis Hernandez and Michael Rosamond to take a 2-1 series advantage over the Southern League leading Chattanooga Lookouts. The Braves dominated the game from the first pitch as starter Chris Waters (3-3, 3.75 ERA) limited the Lookouts to just three hits through 6 innings. He struggled in the seventh allowing a bases loaded walk to Anderson Machado that knocked him out of the game. Bryan Digby came in and induced an inning-ending double play on one pitch that got the Braves out of the jam. Newly promoted Brave, Arthur Santos pitched a perfect ninth for his first save as a Mississippi Brave in front of 2,639 at Bellsouth Park.

The Lookouts wasted another great day at the plate by Noochie Varner as he went 3-4 with a Homerun and three runs scored. Lookouts starter Steve Kelly (6-3, 3.13 ERA) was touched for both homeruns before exiting after the sixth.

The Braves are in Chattanooga to play game four of the five-game set against the Lookouts Wednesday night at 6:15 CT. The Braves will send RHP Paul Bush (3-3, 3.86 ERA) to the hill in search of his team-high fourth win of '06 while Chattanooga counters with LHP Phil Dumatrait (3-3, 3.27 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 5:15pm (CT) on SuperSport 930. If you're headed to Chattanooga don't forget to bring your radios and tune into 107.1 FM exclusively at Bellsouth Park.
