Braves Let Another One Slip Away

Former MSU Bulldog, Matthew Maniscalco delivered a bases-clearing RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth to set up some 9th inning dramamtics in front of 7,218 at Riverwalk Stadium. Aneudi Cuevas then hit a walk-off RBI double in the ninth to complete the comeback.

The Biscuits started the scoring as Elliot Johnson led off the third inning with a solo homerun, his fifth of the season. The Biscuits added another run after Maniscalco doubled reached third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch. The Braves tied the game in the fifth as Ray Serrano ripped a two-run double down the left-field line.

The Braves added a run in each of the next three innings only to see the Biscuits rally in the eighth against relievers Will Startup and Manny Acosta. It was Acosta’s second blown save of the season and the Braves are now 1-6 against the Biscuits this season.

Sean White (6.0 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR) had his second good outing in a row but was left with his third no-decision of the year. The Braves are now 2-4 in games Sean starts.

Biscuits Starter Tony Peguero (7.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K) pitched good enough for the win but his defense let him down with three errors that led to the three un-earned runs.

The Braves left eight men on base and went 3-for-18 with runners in scoring position.
