Braves Run Over Barons To Clinch Series

Matt Esquivel ran over Gustavo Molina in the fifth inning on a Canizares double to give the Braves a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish in front of 3,403 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The Braves won just their second series of the season. The first was against Mobile in early April.

Matt Wright (3-3, 3.20 ERA) was sensational allowing just two runs in seven innings of work for the Braves in his best outing of the year. Zach Schreiber worked the final two innings for his first save of the year.

Ryan Rodriguez (1-4, 5.24 ERA) took the loss allowing just three runs over seven innings while striking out 4 and inducing two double plays.

The Braves finished 4 for 10 with runners in scoring position, while the Barons went 1 for 11 in that same category.

The Braves continue their ten game road trip as they start up a five-game set Wednesday night against the Jacksonville Suns. The Braves send RHP Daniel Curtis (2-3, 4.43 ERA) to the hill, while Jacksonville counters with LHP Danny Muegge (3-4, 4.08 ERA) at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville at 6:05. The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 5:05pm on SuperSport 930 (WSFZ-AM-930)
