Suns Take Series Finale, 5-3

Tony Abreu came through in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single to give the Suns a 4-2 lead in front of a crowd of 9,256 at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The Suns added two more and defeated the Braves in the series finale 5-3. The Braves finished 5-5 on the road trip, failing to win their third game in a row for the second straight series.

Ryan Basner (1-4, 7.20 ERA) took the loss in relief, leaving after two batters with a blister. Glenn Tucker came inherited both base runners that eventually scored. Starter Matt Wright (2-2, 3.16 ERA) did not factor in the decision as he left with the game tied 2-2. He retired the last nine batters he faced.

Suns starter Spike Lundberg (4-1, 2.61 ERA) also didn’t factor in the decision but pitched well, only giving up Esquivel’s solo Homerun in the sixth. The Suns did set a four-day attendance record of 38,507 fans averaging 9,627 per game.

The Braves enjoy an off day on Monday and start up a five game homestand Tuesday night against the Birmingham Barons at Trustmark Park. The Braves send RHP Daniel Curtis (2-4, 5.12 ERA) to the hill, while Jacksonville counters with LHP Ray Liotta (1-5, 3.44 ERA) at 7:05. The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05pm on SuperSport 930.
