Blauser & Salty Ejected in Series Opener

Jeff Blauser and Jarrod Saltalamacchia were tossed in the fourth inning arguing balls and strikes as the Braves fell 10-3 to the defending Southern League Champion Jacksonville Suns. The Suns lit up the scoreboard after the ejections and coasted to a victory in front of 2,475 at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Daniel Curtis (2-4, 5.12 ERA) was touched up for seven runs in his worst outing of the year. Suns starter Danny Muegge (4-4, 4.15 ERA) picked up the win and a two-run single before leaving with an unspecified injury in the sixth. His replacement, Justin Simmons threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The lone bright spot in the game was Martin Prado who finished a single shy of the cycle picking up his first homerun and triple of the season in his first two at-bats. He doubled in his third at-bat and grounded into a fielder’s choice in his final at bat.

The Braves continue their ten game road trip Thursday night against the Jacksonville Suns in game two of the series. The Braves send RHP Sean White (2-2, 3.98 ERA) to the hill, while Jacksonville counters with RHP Justin Orenduff (1-2, 4.31 ERA) at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville at 6:05. The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 5:05pm on SuperSport 930 (WSFZ-AM-930)
