Braves Tie Record with 7th Straight Win: W, 7-5

The Braves needed a ninth inning rally, keyed by two Carolina errors to plate 4 runs as they completed their fourth 9th-inning comeback of the season 7-5 in front of 2,890 at Five County Stadium. The Braves tied their franchise-best winning streak at seven straight games and moved to 17-15 on the road this season while winning their second straight series for the first time this season.

The Braves got 5 and 2/3 innings from starter Chris Waters as he struggled allowing a season-high 5 walks, striking out 6 and giving up two more homeruns. He is now tied for the Southern League lead in homeruns allowed (10). Daniel Curtis got in some extra work since his time was cut short in the first game of the series due to rain. Dan Smith (2-3, 6.75 ERA) got the Braves out of the eighth inning allowing just a sacrifice fly and got credit for the win. Ryan Basner pitched the ninth for his first save of the season. All seven of the Braves wins during the streak have had a save attached to them…Basner (1), Schreiber (3), Santos (3).

Michael Rosamond ended an 0-8 streak by becoming just the second Brave this season to hit two homeruns in a game with a two-run shot in the second which gave the Braves an early 2-0 lead. His solo shot in the seventh brought the Braves back to within one, 4-3. He finished 2-3 with 3 RBIs and a walk. He is now 2nd on the team in RBIs with 24.

Mudcats starter Paul Mildren (3-5, 4.30 ERA) pitched effectively leaving after 6 and 1/3 with the lead, only to see his bullpen blow it in the ninth. Then in the fifth the Braves touched him up for five singles, two of which were infield hits, which scored the other two runs.

The Braves continue on in Zebulon, North Carolina as they play game four of a five-game set against the Carolina Mudcats Monday night at 6:15 CT. The Braves will send RHP Paul Bush (4-3, 3.94 ERA) to the hill while Carolina counters with LHP Manuel Olivera (2-1, 2.51 ERA).
