Lookouts Win Wild One: W, 11-9

The Braves spotted the Lookouts a six-run advantage Sunday afternoon before rallying to within one in the sixth. The Braves wound up falling 11-9 to Chattanooga in front of a crowd of 2,494 at Trustmark Park.

Paul Bush (4-5, 4.69 ERA) struggled finding the strike zone and failed to make it past the fourth while allowing 9 runs (6 earned) on 10 hits and two hit batters. The bullpen retired 9 in a row before Dan Smith gave up a run in the ninth.

Lookouts starter Travis Chick (4-2, 4.98 ERA) was lit up as well but picked up the win despite allowing eight runs on eight hits through five innings. The Lookouts bullpen kept the Braves off the scoreboard as well allowing just a single run in the sixth before throwing up three straight goose eggs to end the game. David Shafer converted on his league-leading 20th save of the season by once again stranding the tying run on base.

Offensively for the Braves, Yunel Escobar hit a three-run bomb in the 3rd inning while Michael Rosamond launched his team-leading 10th homer in the 5th to bring the Braves back to within two.

The Braves continue their final 10-game homestand of the season which will close out the first half as the Braves host the Lookouts in the series finale of the five-game set Monday night at 7:05 CT. The Braves will send RHP Matt Wright (5-2, 2.20 ERA) to the hill, while Chattanooga counters with RHP Josh Hall (2-0, 3.57 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05pm (CT) on SuperSport 930. Don't forget to bring your radios Sunday and tune into AM-930 or 104.3 FM exclusively at Trustmark Park.
