Braves Lose 4th Straight to Mobile: L, 6-4

The Braves have found Wednesday nights at home a challenging task this season. The BayBears picked up a 6-4 win over the Braves dropping them to 0-7 on Wednesday nights in front of an announced crowd of 2,932 at Trustmark Park. The Braves had the tying run at first as Michael Rosamond lined out to right field to end the game and send the Braves to the series finale needing a win to avoid their first ever 5-game sweep at home. (The Braves only other 5-game sweep came in Montgomery June 29-July3)

Matt Harrison (3-3, 3.22 ERA) was victimized by a two-out two-run double by pitcher Jose Oyervidez in the 3-run 4th inning. Two of the three runs were unearned as Eddie Perez (appearing in his first game since May 5th) bobbled a ground ball that would have ended the inning. Oyervidez (6-11, 3.82 ERA) scattered seven hits while striking out seven and giving up a pair of runs in his six innings of work.

Ray Serrano provided a nice offensive spark with his 2nd Homerun of the season, a lead off shot to left-center in the 5th inning. He added an RBI groundout in the 7th. Onil Joseph extended his hit streak to 5 straight games with a 3-for-4 night at the plate and finished with two RBIs as he brought the Braves to within one in the eighth with his two-out single. Matt Young finally collected his first base-hit as a Brave as he singled in his first two at-bats and walked in his final two. He had 71 walks at Myrtle Beach.

The Braves will wrap up a five game set in Pearl, Mississippi at Trustmark Park as they take on the Mobile BayBears, the AA Affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in the series finale. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send LHP Dan Smith (3-6, 2.98 ERA) to the hill, while the BayBears are scheduled to counter with RHP Jon Ellis (0-1, 3.12 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel will start things off at 6:05pm (CT). Don't forget if you're headed to the game then take your radio and tune to 104.3-FM exclusively at Trustmark Park.
