Davies Delivers in Game 2 Victory: W, 7-2

Kyle Davies, making his 4th Major League Rehab start, pitched 7 solid innings allowing just 2 first inning runs on 4 hits while picking up his first victory as a Mississippi Brave. He also chipped in with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate driving in the tying run in the 2nd inning and scoring a run in the 6th inning as the Braves defeated the Smokies 7-2 in front of an announced crowd of 2,805 at Smokies Park.

Davies allowed just two hits and two walks after the first inning inducing two double plays in his final two innings pitched. He threw a combined 15 pitches in the 6th and 7th innings. Joey Devine tossed the final two frames for the Braves giving up a single and walk while also getting a double play ball in the 8th. The Smokies hit into 4 double plays on the night.

The Braves were led offensively by Joshua Arteaga as he ended an 0-10 skid with singles in his first three at-bats. The Braves took the lead back in the 3rd inning on four straight two-out hits including Onil Joseph's team-leading 4th triple of the season. Josh Burrus put the nail in the coffin with a three-run homer (his second in 2 nights) in the 6th inning off of reliever Jonathan Castellanos.

The Braves will continue a five game set in Sevierville, Tennessee at Smokies Park as they take on the Tennessee Smokies, the AA Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in game three of the series. First Pitch is set for 6:15 PM (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send LHP Chris Waters (7-11, 4.75 ERA) to the hill, while the Smokies are scheduled to counter with LHP Clint Goocher (5-5, 3.43 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel will start things off at 5:45pm (CT).
