Braves Swept in Doubleheader: L, 8-2

The Braves suffered their second Doubleheader sweep in team history at the hands of the Huntsville Stars falling 3-1 in Game 1 and 8-2 in Game 2 in front of an announced crowd of 3,043 at Trustmark Park. Both sweeps have occured here at Trustmark Park...the last one came last season against West Tennessee on June 16th.

The Braves were overwhelmed in Game 2 by Steve Hammond as he tossed 4 and 2/3 innings of perfect baseball before Brandon Jones broke it up with a two-out single in the 4th. Hammond (4-4, 2.15 ERA) finished the night allowing one run on five hits and five strikeouts. The crafty lefty has now tossed 15 innings against the Braves yielding just one run and seven hits while winning both decisions. Callix Crabbe left Game 2 with a hamstring injury but not before picking up six hits, 4 RBIs, 2 Runs Scored and a Stolen Base.

Michael Rosamond was one of the few offensive bright spots in Game 2 driving in his team-high 40th RBI of the season with a 6th inning base hit to center field. Onil Joseph also singled in a run in the seventh. Brandon Jones finished the night 2-for-3 raising his average to .280 for the season.

CHIPPER REHABBING: Chipper Jones is scheduled to make two rehab starts with the MS Braves Friday and Saturday night (8.11-12) at Trustmark Park. Tickets can be purchased by going online to www.mississippibraves.com or by stopping by Trustmark Park.
