Braves Nearly No-Hit Mudcats: W, 2-1

The Braves got 7 no-hit innings from Kyle Davies (Major League Rehab Start) and Matt Harrison as the Braves won just their third home series of the season with a 2-1 win in front of an announced crowd of 2,923 at Trustmark Park. Arthur Santos made it interesting in the eighth allowing a solo homerun to JC Muniz to break up the no hitter. Santos then allowed a one-out double and single to put runners at 1st and 3rd before getting a 6-4-3 double play to close out the game in the ninth. For Santos it was his 3rd save of the season.

Kyle Davies tossed two perfect innings while striking out three. Harrison (2-2, 3.92 ERA) tossed 5 innings of middle relief after Davies departed to pick up the win. Harrison struck out four, walked three and did not allow a single hit.

A night after the Braves offense went on a tear, they were shut down when it counted most, with two outs. The Braves left 11 men stranded on base and finished 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. The Braves have now won 11 of their last 16 games and are just a half game out of 4th place Birmingham and 6 games out of 1st place Jacksonville.

The Braves continue a five game set in Pearl Mississippi, Alabama at Trustmark Park as they take on the Carolina Mudcats, the AA Affiliate of the Florida Marlins, in game four of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send LHP Dan Smith (2-5, 4.41 ERA) to the hill, while the Mudcats are scheduled to counter with LHP Adam Bostick (5-7, 4.10 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930. Don't forget if you're headed to the game then take your radio and tune to 104.3-FM exclusively at Trustmark Park.
