Braves Rip Through Mudcats: W, 13-4

The Braves erupted for a season high and franchise best 13 runs on 18 hits to take Game 2 from the Carolina Mudcats Monday night in front of an announced crowd of 2,919 at Truustmark Park. The Braves combined for 12 runs and 14 hits in the 4th-7th innings while sending 30 men to the plate.

The Braves were led by Barbaro Canizares who finished 3 for 4 with his first triple of the season and drove in three. The Braves raised their team batting average three points to .249. Anthony Lerew (4-2, 1.44 ERA) tossed the first five innings while not allowing an earned run to score. Lerew has now tossed four of the last five starts while allowing just one earned run to score.

Manu Olivera (3-7, 3.58 ERA) suffered the brunt of the damage allowing 7 runs on 13 hits before exiting in the sixth. Four more pitchers were sent in including infielder Rex Rundgren to finish off the night.

The Braves continue a five game set in Pearl Mississippi, Alabama at Trustmark Park as they take on the Carolina Mudcats, the AA Affiliate of the Florida Marlins, in game four of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send Kyle Davies to the hill on a major league rehab assignment, while the Mudcats are scheduled to counter with RHP Jose Garcia (3-4, 3.10 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930.
