Smokies Win Rain-Plagued Game: L, 4-2

The Smokies fared better than the Braves after two different rain delays (TOTAL: 1 hour and 12 minutes of stoppage time) taking the series finale 4-2 in front of a rain-soaked crowd of 4,652 at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi.

Dan Smith continued his dominance in a starter's role tossing four more scoreless innings (10 straight scoreless innings) before the second rain delay forced him from the game with the team leading 1-0. He did not factor in the decision. Arthur Santos (1-3, 1.54 ERA) gave up a leadoff homerun to the first batter he faced in the fifth to tie the game 1-1. Then in the 7th it all fell apart as Steve Garrabrants delivered a bases-loaded two-run single to bust the game open for Tennessee. Garrabrants is now batting 4-5 with 9 RBIs with the bases loaded.

The Smokies went with a multiple bullpen night again as Jonathan Castellanos (2-0, 3.21 ERA) picked up the win while Bill White pitched the final 1 1/3 inning for his 3rd save of the season and his second in as many nights.

The Braves enjoy another off day on Sunday before starting up a five game set in Mobile, Alabama at Hank Aaron Stadium as they take on the Mobile BayBears, the AA Affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in game one of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send LHP Francisely Bueno (1-4, 4.50 ERA) to the hill while the BayBears are scheduled to counter with RHP Mike Ekstrom (0-4, 3.68 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930. Don't forget if you're headed to the game then take your radio and tune to 104.3-FM exclusively at Hank Aaron Stadium.
