Braves Take First Game of DH: W, 2-1

Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit his first homerun at Trustmark Park since April 24th (a two-run shot in the 2nd) which gave the Braves a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish. The Braves look to sweep their first doubleheader of the season...they have split the previous three.

Chris Waters (6-8, 4.05 ERA) pitched five effective innings, scattering five walks and four hits. The only damage on the scoreboard was the leadoff homer by Jesus Cota in the 2nd.

The Braves continue a five game set in Pearl, Mississippi at Trustmark Park as they take on the Tennessee Smokies, the AA Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in game two of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send RHP Anthony Lerew (2-2, 2.00 ERA) to the hill while the Smokies are scheduled to counter with RHP Ross Ohlendorf (7-5, 3.05 ERA).
