Braves Walk Off with DH Sweep: W, 2-1

The Braves swept the two-game doubleheader against the Tennessee Smokies in a pair of 2-1 decisions. Brandon Jones launched his 4th homerun of the season, a two-run shot in walk-off fashion, in front of an announced crowd of 5,011 at Trustmark Park.

The Braves were befuddled by Ross Ohlendorf through six innings as he held the Braves to just one hit and one baserunner from the 2nd through the 6th innings. He then allowed a leadoff single up the middle by Josh Burrus before Jones belted the two-run blast five pitches later.

Anthony Lerew had his second consecutive strong outing, allowing just a single unearned run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Lerew (2-2, 1.64 ERA) did not factor in the decision as the Braves dropped their team ERA (3.80) to its lowest point since April 29th (3.77 ERA). Jose Ascanio tossed a perfect seventh to notch his third win of the season in relief.

The Braves are now three games out of 4th place and within four of 3rd place in the South Division. The Braves have won six of their last ten and have two games to clinch their third straight series win.

The Braves continue a five game set in Pearl, Mississippi at Trustmark Park as they take on the Tennessee Smokies, the AA Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in game four of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send LHP Matt Harrison (1-2, 3.91 ERA) to the hill while the Smokies are scheduled to counter with LHP Greg Smith (3-3, 4.50 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930. Don't forget if you're headed to the game then take your radio and tune to 104.3-FM exclusively at Trustmark Park.
