Braves Lose Game Two of Series: L, 6-1

BayBears cather Colt Morton had a memorable outing against the Braves behind the plate tonight as he finished 2-for-4 with 4 RBIs on two homeruns in front of an announced crowd of 2,085 at Hank Aaron Stadium. While Morton was hitting balls out, BayBears starter Jack Cassel was mowing down Braves. Cassel (2-0, 2.01 ERA) allowed just one run to the Braves while retiring 10 of the last 11 he faced including eight straight at one point. Cassel has not allowed more than two runs in any of his five starts this season.

With a 30 minute delay to start the game it appeared the Braves were in slow motion as they were unable to get a runner past first base after the fourth inning. Luis Hernandez was the lone bright spot offensively for the Braves as he continued his torrid pace (SEE HIT STREAKS BELOW) for the last 4 games. The Braves best chance offensively was in the fourth but Joshua Arteaga grounded into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded to end the scoring threat.

The game was put out of reach as Eric Schmitt entered the game in relief of Chris Waters in the seventh as he inherited two runners. Colt Morton lifted a 0-1 pitch over the left field wall for his 2nd homerun of the night giving the BayBears their final 6-1 margin. His first homerun gave the BayBears a 2-1 lead in the 5th.

The Braves continue a five game set in Mobile, Alabama at Hank Aaron Stadium as they take on the Mobile BayBears, the AA Affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in game three of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are scheduled to send RHP Anthony Lerew (2-2, 1.64 ERA) to the hill while the BayBears are scheduled to counter with LHP Sean Thompson (4-7, 3.44 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930. Don't forget if you're headed to the game then take your radio and tune to 104.3-FM exclusively at Hank Aaron Stadium.
