Braves Strike Out Biscuits: W, 6-3

Lefty Dan Smith struck out a season-high 12 Biscuits and the Braves added 6 runs of support in their first ever series-clinching win at Riverwalk Stadium in front of an announced crowd of 2,681 at Riverwalk Stadium. Sean White tossed the final three innings to notch his 1st save of the season.

The Braves offense stood strong despite striking out a dozen times as well. Brandon Jones launched his 7th homerun of the season in the 4th to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. Mike Rozema added an RBI groundout an inning later to make it 3-0. Josh Burrus finished 3-4 while Brandon Jones finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Yunel Escobar made his first appearance since injuring his elbow in the Carolina series and went 1 -for-2 with 2 runs scored and some dynamic plays at 2nd base. Ironically, he was hit by a pitch in his first at-bat.

The only run Dan Smith allowed was an unearned run in the fifth that came home to score on a wild pitch. Sean White gave up two runs on three hits in his three innings of work.

Biscuits starter, Mitch Talbot was overshadowed by Smith as he struck out 11 batters while allowing three runs in 7 innings of work. Every game this season between the Braves and Biscuits has been decided by three runs or less.

In the South Division Standings, the Braves are now a half game back of 4th place Birmingham and 6 games behind 1st place Jacksonville. The Braves caught ground on every team in the South Division Tuesday night.
