Braves Finally End Suns Streak: W, 11-7

The Braves were able to score early and late as they finally stopped the Suns franchise-best winning streak at fifteen straight games in front of a crowd of 4,529 at Trustmark Park. The Braves also, for the first time this season, scored in double figures with their 11-7 come-back win over the Suns.

Braves starter, Francisely Bueno (0-2, 2.55 ERA) did not factor in the decision even though he left with the lead. Paul Bush (5-5, 4.91 ERA) picked up the win after being charged with his first blown save of the season in which he allowed four runs to score in his three innings of relief. Zach Schreiber came on in a non-save situation and made it interesting as he loaded the bases, and allowed a run on a sacrifice fly that ran his ERA up to 1.40.

The Braves took an early 4-0 lead on a two-out two-run double by Barbaro Canizares and a two-out two-run single by Luis Hernandez. Hernandez drove in two more in the six-run eighth inning rally. Gregor Blanco was the BC Powder player of the game as he finished 2-3 with three runs scored and two walks...he reached base safely every time he came to the plate. He also collected his 50th career triple to lead off the game for the Braves.

Despite losing 38 games in the first half the Braves have won now on seven consecutive Friday nights - three at home and four away.

The Braves wrap up their final 10-game homestand of the season which will close out the first half as the Braves welcome the defending Southern League Champion Jacksonville Suns in the final game of a five-game set Saturday night at 7:05 CT. The Suns have won 23 of their last 25. The Braves will send the # 3 SL Pitcher RH Matt Wright (6-2, 2.10 ERA) to the hill, while Jacksonville counters with RHP Alvis Ojeda (3-1, 2.68 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05pm (CT) on SuperSport 930. Don't forget to bring your radios and tune into AM-930 or 104.3 FM exclusively at Trustmark Park.
