Braves Rally Falls Short: L, 7-6

Madison, MS native Michael Rosamond launched his team-leading 15th homerun of the season in the eighth that cut the Stars lead to 1, but the Braves fell exactly one run short in their comeback bid in front of an announced crowd of 3,717 at Joe Davis Stadium. Eddie Perez started the game with a two-run shot in the 1st after Matt Young reached on a fielding error by left fielder Brendan Katin.

The Stars were led offensively by Steve Moss and Brad Nelson. Moss led off the home half of the first with a solo shot on the first pitch from Eric Schmitt. Nelson belted a pair of homers off of Schmitt, a solo bomb to lead off the 2nd inning and a 3-run dinger in the third to cap the scoring in that inning. The Stars added an unearned run in the 4th which proved to be the winning run.

Matt Young reached base 4 out of 5 trips while scoring twice. Josh Burrus went 3 for 4 at the dish and scored once as well. Glenn Tucker tossed three innings of relief while Ryan Basner just back from Richmond tossed two innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts. Schmitt (0-4, 5.70 ERA) was tagged with six runs and collected three strikeouts. He walked the bases loaded to start the four-run 3rd inning.

The Braves will continue a five game set in Huntsville, Alabama at Joe Davis Stadium as they take on the Huntsville Stars, the AA Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, in game three of the series. First Pitch is set for 6:05 PM (CT) live from Joe Davis Stadium. The Braves are scheduled to send LHP Chris Waters (7-13, 5.01 ERA) to the hill, while the Stars are scheduled to counter with RHP Yovani Gallardo (4-2, 1.63 ERA).
