Braves End First Half at 31-38: W, 1-0

The Braves used an outstanding outing by Matt Wright (7-2, 1.90 ERA) to send the Braves to the second half on a two-game win streak in front of a crowd of 4,327 at Trustmark Park. The Braves dealt the Suns just their fifth losing streak of two or more games on the season. The Braves were the last team to take two straight from the Suns during their record setting run of 15 consecutive wins. Matt Wright did not allow a batter past second base in his six innings.

Suns starter, Alvis Ojeda (3-2, 2.51 ERA) suffered the loss, allowing just the RBI single by Matt Esquivel in the sixth. The Suns collected five hits and three for extra bases but only managed to get one base runner to third and failed to score. The two bullpens combined to pitch 5 innings and allow 1 hit. Zach Schreiber pitched a perfect ninth for his seventh save in as many chances for the Braves.

Gregor Blanco started the sixth inning rally with a leadoff single, moved to second on his 17th stolen base and third on a Hernandez ground out before scoring on the Esquivel single. Blanco tied Joey Votto (CHAT) with his 45 run scored on the season. The Braves have now gone 11-1 on Friday and Saturday nights combined over the last six weeks.

The Braves enjoy an off day on Father's Day (June 18) and begin the second half on Monday as they travel to Jackson, Tennessee to take on the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx in the final game of a five-game set at 7:05 CT.
