Braves Rally Falls Short on Sunday: L, 4-3

The MS Braves rallied from a 4-0 deficit but fell one-run short as the Birmingham Barons won 4-3 in front of a Sunday afternoon crowd of 2,515 at Trustmark Park. The Braves did not get a lead off baserunner until the seventh inning when they scored their three runs against Ray Liotta and BJ LaMura. The Braves have still come back from a deficit of more than 3 runs (3 times) this year.

New MS Brave Matt Harrison (0-1, 6.00 ERA) struggled in his first three innings before retiring 12 of the final 15 batters he faced. Glenn Tucker pitched two perfect innings of relief and Jose Ascanio pitched a scoreless ninth to keep the game close. The Braves offense sputtered after the rally managing just a walk after the seventh against LaMura and Wasserman, who picked up his 14th save.

The Braves continue a five game homestand at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi as they take on the Birmingham Barons, the AA Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves will send another new face to the hill in LHP Chris Waters (4-6, 4.52 ERA), while the Barons counter with RHP Lance Broadway (4-5, 2.90 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930. Don't forget if you're headed to the game then take your radio and tune to 104.3-FM exclusively at Trustmark Park.
