Braves Take Pitcher's Duel: W, 1-0

The MS Braves won their third 1-0 game of the season in front of a Monday night crowd of 3,033 at Trustmark Park. The Braves only run came in the 2nd inning on a sacrifice fly by Jarrod Saltalamacchia, his second straight game with an RBI.

Chris Waters (4-6, 4.21 ERA) faced the minimum through three innings. Waters lasted 6 innings and only gave up 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out two. Arthur Santos pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Zach Schreiber pitched a scoreless ninth to collect his team-leading ninth save in as many opportunities.

Birthday boy Luis Hernandez (22 years old) had some amazing defensive plays as he ended four different innings on ground balls hit to him and the final out was also recorded by Luis on a pop out by Gustavo Molina.

The game time was 2:11 which ties the shortest game of the season.

The Braves continue a five game homestand at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi as they take on the Birmingham Barons, the AA Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox in game four of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves will send RHP Anthony Lerew (0-0, 2.25 ERA), to the hill in his second start since rejoining the Braves, while the Barons counter with LHP Tyler Lumsden (7-2, 2.95 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930.
