Yovani Gallardo Handcuffs Braves: W, 4-2

The Braves were shut down Sunday night as Yovani Gallardo tossed eight scoreless two-hit innings while facing just two over the minimum. Gallardo (5-2, 1.70 ERA) was chased from the ballgame in the 9th inning as Luis Hernandez reached on a pinch-hit walk and later scored on Mike Rozema's 2nd triple of the series. Rozema came home on a wild pitch as he slid under the tag of Gallardo. Onil Joseph then followed with a single which brought in Travis Phelps. Phelps allowed a single to Josh Burrus but struck out two including Michael Rosamond with the tying run at 1st base. Phelps earned his 5th save of the season.

Chris Waters (7-14, 5.08 ERA) was touched up in the first inning for his league-leading 24th Homerun by Ryan Braun. He did avoid walking two batters for the first time this season but his only walk of the game led to a three-run inning in the 4th as Steve Moss doubled in a pair of runs over the head of center fielder Matt Young. Offensively the Braves were led by Ray Serrano who picked up a pair of singles but was left stranded both times.

The Braves will continue a five game set in Huntsville, Alabama at Joe Davis Stadium as they take on the Huntsville Stars, the AA Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, in game four of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT) live from Joe Davis Stadium. The Braves are scheduled to send LHP Matt Harrison(3-3, 3.22 ERA) to the hill, while the Stars are scheduled to counter with RHP Tim Dillard (10-7, 3.14 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel gets everything started off at 7:00pm immediately following the Rebel Yell Hotline.
