Braves Give One Away to Biscuits: L, 6-5
The MS Braves gave another one away Thursday night as they fell 6-5 to the Montgomery Biscuits in front of a crowd of 3,942 at Riverwalk Stadium. The Biscuits used 2 two-run homers and a two-run double to rally from a 4-0 deficit in the first inning.
Starter Francisely Bueno (0-2, 3.34 ERA) did not factor in the decision as Dan Smith (2-5, 6.97 ERA) was charged with his second blown save of the season giving up the deciding two-run homer to Jason Pridie in the sixth inning.
The Braves took an early lead in the first thanks to two errors by Montgomery and two extra base hits by Hernandez and Jones. Jones broke out of an 0-7 slump with his first triple and 3-hit game of the season. It was also Ray Serrano's first 3-hit game of the season as he replaced Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the lineup. The Braves final run came on an RBI double by Joshua Arteaga in the fourth. The Braves managed to collect back-to-back singles in the sixth and seventh but failed to score any of the four hits.
The Braves continue a five game road trip at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama Thursday night as they take on the Montgomery Biscuits, the AA Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are set to send Matt Harrison (0-1, 6.00 ERA) to the hill for his second start while the Biscuits are scheduled to counter with RHP Jeff Nieman (0-2, 4.32 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930.
