Braves Fall in Extra Innings: L, 4-2 (11)

Saturday night the Braves were unable to deliver in scoring situations as they wound up 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position falling to the BayBears 4-2 in 11 innings in front of 4,709 at Trustmark Park.

Braves starter, Matt Wright (7-3, 2.22 ERA) gave up a solo homerun in the fourth to Stephen Smitherman which ended the Braves scoreless inning streak at 22 against Mobile. The all-time record was 27 set last year against Tennessee. The Braves bullpen was solid until the eleventh when Santos (1-2, 0.47 ERA) gave up his first earned run of the sesaon out of the pen and took the loss.

The BayBears bullpen was solid allowing just an eleventh inning single and hit batter while retiring 11 of the last 13 batters faced. Bubba Nelson (5-5, 4.64 ERA) picked up the win in relief for Mobile as they avoided their third straight loss. Both teams played short-handed as Yunel Escobar (Braves INF), George Kottaras (Mobile C) and Luis Cruz (Mobile INF) all headed to Pittsburgh for the Futures Game on Sunday.

The Braves will enjoy the All Star Break Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before returning to action on Wednesday night. The Braves will start up a five game set in Hunstville Alabama at Joe Davis Stadium as they take on the Huntsville Stars, the AA Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, in game one of the series.
