Arteaga Helps Braves End Skid: W, 2-0

Mother Nature, Joshua Arteaga and Francisely Bueno helped the Braves end their seven-game losing streak Tuesday night in front of the 2nd largest crowd in Trustmark Park history of 6,894 fans. The Braves were retired in order through the first three innings and 10 in a row before Joshua Arteaga launched his first homerun in over a month give the Braves a 1-0 advantage. Michael Rosamond followed with a two-out double and was brought in by Brandon Jones' two-out RBI triple.

Braves starter, Francisely Bueno (1-2, 2.86 ERA) had his best outing of the season to date allowing just four singles and striking out seven in the first four innings. He was helped out by a double play turned by Arteaga in the fifth.

BayBears starter Sean Thompson (3-7, 3,45 ERA) only threw 45 pitches but the 2-run fourth did him in after the rains started falling at 8:16pm (CT). The delay lasted 1 hour and 36 minutes before the umpires called it due to persistent rains in the central Mississippi area.

The Braves continue their five game home stand at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi Wednesday night as they take on the Mobile BayBears, the AA Affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in game two of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are set to send LHP Matt Harrison(0-1, 7.15 ERA) to the hill in search of his first win while the BayBears are scheduled to counter with RHP Dirk Hayhurst (0-1, 5.40ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930.
