Braves Lose Record 5th Straight: L, 5-3

The Braves woes continued Saturday night as their losing skid hit a team-record five straight as they lost 5-3 to the Biscuits in front of 6,729 at Riverwalk Stadium. For the third straight game the Braves also scored first but managed to give up the lead and the game to the Biscuits.

Braves starter, Chris Waters (4-7, 4.50 ERA) was once again plagued by the long ball and the free pass as he allowed a game-tying two-run homer in the third and walked four batters in the process. The Braves bullpen was solid as Glenn Tucker and Eric Schmitt combined to 3 2/3 innings of 1-hit relief.

The real star of the game was Biscuits starter Andy Sonnanstine (7-6, 3.26 ERA) as he finished one out shy of his third complete game in his last four outings. Sonnanstine retired 10 in a row at one point (between the 3rd and 6th innings) and 20 of 23 heading into the ninth before giving up a run and three base hits to the Braves.

Onil Joseph started the game with his second leadoff homerun of the season. The Braves collected another run in the second off of three straight base hits capped off by Serrano's RBI double. The Braves ran themselves out of further offense by running into a double play as Rozema grounded out to first and Serrano was tagged out at third by the first baseman. The Braves other run came in the ninth as Darula and Serrano hit back-to-back two-out doubles to chase Sonnanstine.

The Braves continue a five game road trip at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama Sunday night as they take on the Montgomery Biscuits, the AA Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. First Pitch is set for 5:05 PM (CT). The Braves are set to send RHP Anthony Lerew (0-1, 4.50 ERA) to the hill while the Biscuits are scheduled to counter with RHP Jim Magrane (9-6, 3.26 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 4:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930. Don't forget if you're headed to the game then take your radio and tune to 103.9-FM exclusively at Riverwalk Stadium.
