Braves Fall in Game 1 of DH: L, 2-1
Four straight singles to start the fourth for the Mobile BayBears did in Matt Harrison and the Braves as they pushed two across in the inning and held on with a 2-1 win. Harrison (0-2, 5.40 ERA) lowered his ERA almost two runs in the process of pitching all seven innings making it back-to-back complete games pitched by the Braves.
BayBears starter Dirk Hayhurst (1-1, 3.78 ERA) picked up his first win of the season and retired the final eleven batters he faced. The Braves lone run came off of the Mobile bullpen as Hernandez led off the 6th with a single and Darula moved him to third. Mike Rozema sacrificed him in to cut the lead in half. In the 7th Canizares hit a bullet off of Michael Johnson's face to extend his hit streak to 5 games, but Serrano hit into a game-ending double play (2nd of the game) to end the threat.
The Braves continue their five game home stand at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi tonight as they take on the Mobile BayBears, the AA Affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in game three of the series. First Pitch is set for 8:25 PM (CT). The Braves are set to send LHP Chris Waters (4-7, 4.50 ERA) to the hill while the BayBears are scheduled to counter with RHP Mike Ekstrom (0-2, 4.67ERA).
