Braves Post 2nd Straight Shutout: W, 5-0

The Braves ran their consecutive scoreless inning streak to 19 straight innings as the Braves won just their second home series of the season (both against Mobile) in front of 5,506 at Trustmark Park. The Braves blanked the BayBears for the second straight night 5-0, behind six strong innings of Anthony Lerew (1-2, 2.70 ERA). The Braves also moved up a spot in the Southern League Team ERA department to 9th dropping their team ERA to 3.92. Birmingham is now last in the league.

The Braves offense showed up Friday night as Yunel Escobar paced the attack with a 3-for-3 night with 3 singles and a walk. Bobby Darula added his first MS Brave homerun while Brandon Jones chipped in his second (over the Cellular South Cafe). The Braves bullpen (Smith, Scmitt, Tucker) shut down Mobile tossing 3 scoreless innings while allowing just a hit and a walk.

The Braves wrap up their five game home stand at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi Wednesday night as they take on the Mobile BayBears, the AA Affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in game four of the series. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM (CT). The Braves are set to send RHP Matt Wright (7-3, 2.19 ERA) to the hill in search of his first win while the BayBears are scheduled to counter with RHP Jack Cassel (0-0, 1.50 ERA). The Braves On Deck Circle powered by Nextel starts off the broadcast at 6:05 PM (CT) on SuperSport 930.
